We need to look at the assu- tions and processes that the models and metaphors implicitly and explicitly contain. In this response I have taken research in mathematics education to be entirely subsumed in educational research generally. I feel we should explore whether there is a specific thrust to mat- matics education in the here and now, and be very practical about it. Gender and Mathematics Education: A German View; C. La difusión internacional de la investigación de calidad constituye uno de los principales retos al que se enfrentan los consejos editoriales de las publicaciones científicas. I will give some examples of what I found to be problems with Menon's position, based around the themes of a was it worth saying anyway; b the function of overstatement ; c methodology and the role of theory in educational research; and d the proposed ideal world of educational research.
